Featured artists -November 30, 2023
Bliss Bowen:
Bliss Bowen is a singer-songwriter, writer and editor who spent most of her childhood inhaling the salt air of the Atlantic Ocean and the folklore of the Pine Barrens of South Jersey (aka Springsteen country). She then rooted herself in the foothills of Sierra Madre here in Southern California, where she finds abundant inspiration for her soulful Americana songs and stories. Bliss is currently preparing for the release of The Ghost Trees EP, a preview of her long-awaited album Ghost Trees (due in spring 2024), which she has been recording with a crew of exceptional musicians from LA’s Americana-roots community, including longtime friends Ted Russell Kamp (bassist/co-producer) and Dan Wistrom (guitarist). She and Dan are looking forward to performing together Nov. 30 at Pi Jacobs’ Last Thursdays songwriter night, previewing songs from the EP and introducing some new material. A website detailing the creation of Ghost Trees and stories behind the songs is in the works; for now, keep up with Bliss at instagram.com/blissfulone, reverbnation.com/blissbowen and blissbowen.bandcamp.com.
Arwen Lewis:
Arwen Lewis is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and Music Radio Show/Podcast host of The Arwen Lewis Show. You could say her musical genre is alt-country. Technically, she inhabits our blue planet, but so much about her believes and belongs in the celestial realm. First and foremost, her earthily angelic voice (just listen and you’ll know that’s not a contradiction in terms). As the daughter of Peter Lewis, founding member of rock and roll cult heroes, Moby Grape, and granddaughter of Oscar-Winning actress, Loretta Young, she’s been part of the creative cosmos all her life, so it’s no surprise that Arwen’s new OMAD RECORDS EP - produced by Arwen Lewis and Jonathan McEuen - is called Under the Stars—or that a slice of sonic heaven is poised to enter your heart, mind and soul. While Arwen’s self-titled debut - produced by Oscar-Winning and Grammy Nominated Producer, John DeNicola - released in 2015, featured her interpretations of Moby Grape songs, this time out she’s flying higher, as both producer and writer.
